Immaculate Conception Parish has been planning for a restoration for many years. Through the years, the Parish has been an exceptional caretaker of this historic building which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. Taking care of a sacred structure such as this is no easy task, and over the last 30 years many important upgrades have been made, including a new roof, new electrical system, new basement, plexiglass covers for the priceless stained glass windows and many important repairs. As a result very little has been done to restore and beautify the interior of the Church.
The Parish conducted small pilot project in January 2022. This pilot project restored the St. Joseph's altar area and the vestibule. It also helped to fine tune the color schedule and stencil patterns for the rest of the project. Those colors are reflected now througout our website. A gallery of photos from the St. Joseph's pilot can be viewed below.
Phase 1 - In Phase 1 we completed the restoration of the sanctuary, including all three altars and new artwork. General painting of the rest of the church was also condcuted. In addition, several necessary building upgrades have been undertaken: plaster repairs, new interior lighting, and reconfiguration of the HVAC.
In Phase 2 we will complete decorative stencils and painting in the rest of the church, replace the altar rail and sanctuary furniture, restore the floors and pews, replace and rapair entry doors, restore the Baptismal and Confessional areas, repair the ceiling below the choir loft, restore exterior front entry, and install extererior lighting.
We look forward to providing regular updates and pictures. May God reward the generosity of our Parish and the many people outside of the Parish who have contributed to A Restoration of Hope. If you believe in making sure that we can pass on the Traditional Catholic Liturgy, art and architecture to future generations, please donate to Immaculate Conception Church -Tradition Renewed Campaign!
