The beautiful and unique stained glass at Immaculate Conception is original and is in remarkable condition. The Parish was able to install plexiglass exterior coverings to protect it from the harsh weather conditions. These priceless windows are the guide for the selection of the color scheme in the restoration.
Paint exposures conducted by John Canning & Company revealed the original paint colors. They found the interior of the church originally had a deep golden ochre palette, not the mint green we see today. This color was intentionally chosen to maximize the lighting from the stained glass windows. All stained glass windows have a colored glass border with deep and light amber colors. One could imagine when entering this space, how the warm gold effect, rich in style had an uplifting effect. This color palette is also very supportive of the high altar and side altars. The altars, Stations of the Cross and stenciling, either have gold leaf or gold paint embellishments that provide added emphasis supporting of this golden-yellow palette of both the paint and the windows.
